This was the first and only 'finished' comic story from the "Flying Lawnchair" story I spent much of my late teens and early twenties trying to write.  "Meanwhile" was going to be the series title, though at various times it was known as "720" and just "The Flying Lawnchair."   I lost interest in this idea somewhere around the time people started actually taking their lawnchairs into the air via weather baloons.  That had something to do with it, but the stupid concept probably had a bit of an influence as well...

The dog, Merlin, was based on my sister's dog of the same name.

I did the first 6 pages in 1997 and revisited another 6 pages in 2000.

The horizontal images are double page spreads.

Most of this was accomplished by doing inked drawings in my sketchbook, then arduously shrinking them down via photocopier into many different sizes so I could have my choice of sizes when I collaged them into a page layout in those heady pre-digital days. I drew between the collage bits. here and there you can see the evidence.

 

Boy, I had NO IDEA how to letter a comic, at all!
